課程概述 |
This is an introductory course to the theory and practice of T& I (translation and interpreting). We will cover T&I theory, explore how translators and interpreters learn and work, explore T&I strategies, and most importantly, work on overcoming linguistic and cultural hurdles as we travel back and forth between Chinese and English. |
課程目標 |
1. To introduce students to the art and skills of translating and interpreting.
2. To enhance the bilingual and bicultural competencies of the students. |
課程要求 |
1. Attendance and in-class participation are crucial.
2. There will be required reading and follow-up exercises.
3. The first semester concludes with a semester project to be completed over the winter break.
4. The second semester starts with the semester projects accompanied by weekly mini translation assignments.
5. Each student will compile a translation portfolio at the end of the second semester. |
